I'm currently in Kabul and had to snap a few pics of this up-armored Discovery 3 (LR3). The wheel/brake pic didn't come out that great, but it has AP Racing brakes at all 4 corners! I guess that's to haul it down w/ all the extra weight from the armor. BTW it's a diesel V6.

Nice find! Stay safe over there, please. Slotted w/ 6 pistons? Do you know if it is armored with plate or Kev inserts? The undercarriage HAS to be plated to prevent damage from IED's. Too bad. War sucks. You have my complete support in the selfless endeavor that you're in. Internet High Five my Brother! Come home safe.

Amen to that.
I have to add, I love the desert snorkel. I would love a turn testing that thing out on a nice sandy area. Here, in CA. Not up to the challegene of earning the right to drive it there.....

Yup, slotted rotors and AP Racing 6 pots. Heavy rigs with all the up-armor stuff so I suppose you need a lot of brake! I believe they're Kev inserts. These vehicles are only designed to withstand small arms fire, not IEDs. There's really nothing you're going to do to make a conventional vehicle withstand even a small IED or worse-yet a well targeted EFP. It takes a V-shaped hull and massively thick platting to even have half a chance.
Amen to that.

I'm back in CA right now myself... Gold Bless America!
