I should be there. I'll try to have a military Hummer or two with me as well as a special treat for whoever else shows up, if I get the ok from the big boss :D

I'm there for sure this time. Not only do I need to test out the new CDL, I REALLY want to get a ride in a military Humvee. Luis, if you can work that out it would be awesome!! I've never been in a Hummer before, and have been wanting to ever since I saw them (on tv) in Panama in '86. I love RovrFlo but I have always been smitten by the H1 (nonwagon version). Tell "Big Boss" that "Big B" would greatly appreciate it.

I'm out. I even got the weekend off of work to go, but I forgot that I have a vintners festival to go to. That's what I get for having a wife in the wine biz. I'm bummed...:(

I am planning to be there. Going to see how the Disco handles with the new additions to the front before I plan the next step. Not likely to run the mud pits this time out. I will be bringing my HD video camera with me for those special moments.

Well, it's looking like I may have permission to bring at least one M998 with me. I have been trying to get updated videos of Military Hummers off roading, showcasing their capabilities and their limitations so that I can update my driver's training program at my Batallion but it appears I'm going to have to make my own in order to get exactly what I want. So it looks so far as if I'll get to bring one along with a couple of my soldiers as "training" to help create those videos. I just want to make sure from Will or some of the BOD members that it doesn't impose in any way what we are setting out to do next MORG. If it does, I can set it for a different day. I just thought what better time to do some off road training than with our very own club experts present to oversee and yes, maybe a few joy rides for those interested! *ehem, Big B, ehem*

Nope, it's a santa cruz mountain vintners festival in downtown Los Gatos and Saratoga. It's a fun event but I'd rather be at the MORG, although now my truck is in the shop getting the head gaskets done....

military H1 is a Humvee, civilian version is Hummer

nevertheless, would be nice having a Humvee lead the pack to push aside the pinstripers

HEY ALL... it's been way to long... looks like I can make it. May be the last outing for the 2000D2 as I've recently aquired an '03 for a new project. Anybody interested in a modified 2kd2 with 75,000 well traveled miles... that is ready for a new rear main seal... etc. :D?

I plan to go in early with the HMMWV, a stock Wrangler and a couple of other friends and head for the obstacle course area to start braking them in slowly. The owner of the Wrangler has never taken it off road and at least one of the HMMWV drivers hasn't either. I still don't have a CB so please make sure you guys swing by the OC area and pick us up when the convoy heads in!

I'm gonna go buy bagels/coffee/breakfast/lunch stuff at Roberts Market which is about 1/4 mile off 280 heading west on the Woodside road exit (towards the mountains). It looks like everyone wants to be there by around 9, 9:30 so I am thinking of departing that store at around 8am -- arriving there around 7:30. Post here if you are interested in joining up there.

I do have a shotgun seat available -- no lil'Crawlr or wife this time -- just my daughter in the back seat...

Here is the Convoy I am with. I am not exactly sure who all wants to join -- but I am going to be at Roberts (in Woodside) from 7:30 to 8:00 getting a Latte, bagels, and having them make me and Marla a sandwich. To get there, you go west on Woodside road about a 1/4 mile from 280 to the stop signs and it is on the left. West would be towards the Mountains.

If anyone else wants to meet up with us along the way, call my cell at 650-208-1175 which I will have with me. And stay on CB Channel 7..

Wow, what an awesome day today!! There was a HUGE turn out this time, and it looked like everyone had a great time. I'm uploading all the pics right now to a new album, but will attach a few in this post, so check the pics link in my sig.

We gathered at the gate and headed towards to obstacle course. A lot of people climbed the stairsteps, and some went through the rock garden and water hole. I'm not sure if anyone tried the mud pit though. It was pretty thick looking today. In fact there was a Power Wagon stuck in it when I was heading out. After toying around the obs. course for a bit we went to visit Jarrell's Gulch.

It was fun to finally tackle that. First time I couldn't make it very far and wound up reversing out, and last time there was a lot of struggling and spinning wheels. This time though, with the CDL, it was a walk in the park. By the time everyone had their fill of the gulch it was about noon so we decided to head up to the Top of the World.

At the top we packed in the trucks and had lunch. Tyler (Frank's son) got to try a Beef Stew MRE that AJ had in the Humvee. Big thanks to Luis for arranging the M998 showing!! When we headed back down we were going to stop at 5 Fingers but it is already closed due to the amount of dust being kicked up on the trails.

We continued on back to the obstacle course which by that time people started to head home. It was another very successful MORG I think and can't wait for another round. Maybe July (5th) will be in Cow Mountain??

I have video's that will get uploaded sometime soon as well. The camera mount worked fine except there's a random ticking sound. I never heard it while driving but will need to get worked out.

That was a ton of fun you guys!! Lutz rules for driving all the way from the Central Coast! It was great to see Tyler out there chopping it up too. The view from Top of the World was amazing. Very, very cool. Who's idea was it to take that steep, loose trail down? My HDC never worked that hard before!! It felt like the vehicle surfed down most of the way. I felt sorry for anyone who didn't have HDC. The White Disco in front of me lifted the left rear up about 3ft and got REAL tippy at one point. Good Times! Check out Chuck with some serious pucker factor near the Ditch. It looked like the entire vehicle weight was on his left front wheel. Close to Shrekkin' it!

BTW - what's the preferred police vehicle of Hollister... an LR3 sucka's!!!! The officer was really cool and quite interested in our club. I'm sure he doesn't stop and get out and mingle every time he sees a group of 'Yotas or Heeps. Keep it up you guys. I think we're a heck of a club!!!:D

That was my second time down that trail from the Top of the World without using the HDC. In fact, I've only used it once on the street behind me as a test. But, I also engaged my CDL before starting so the ABS (including TC and HDC) were turned off.

GriffSC

had a great time as always! had to bail out most of the way to the Top of the World because had to be back home for a bbq with friends. turned around right before the PW's came down, i guess.

i concur with the sentiments about our club. everyone, and i mean everyone, is great! really enjoyed Luis and his wife and, of course, the Humvee. that thing is a beast.

oh, and i can't forget, good job out there tyler! i'm not sure i'd have been doing that at your age, at least not with any confidence. btw, your troubles through the ditch were the result of your dad's poor spotting...:D

looking forward to the next outing.
