Hey people, I see we have 21 spots taken? There are 94 of us in the club, plus families......

It is getting close and there is a lot of planning for dinner on Sat. Night. Get registered so we know to set a place for you!

I can't wait.....coming alone and staying that Sat night....can't wait!

Who else is in?

I have registered/paid for two (myself and fiancee) and will be there Friday (~1pm) through Sunday afternoon. Is it typical to bring one box of firewood per night of camping? I'm planning to bring two boxes from Safeway.

As I am a member of both NCLR and SCLR, I would love to see the annual events on different weekends. I had already committed to the SCLR BBQ once the NCLR Annual Event was announced. Never been to Hollister, darn.

Sorry John, I had no idea the SCLR event was on the same weekend. We'll keep that in mind next time.

I have been away from the forum for a while so dont which is the official thread for this event. Are there any spots left? I was planning on arriving friday night after work, camp, but will have to leave saturday mid morning to continue with my trip to santa cruz. I just wanted to stop by and shake the hands and see the faces of the other club member for the first time. Also is there a contact person? I have never been to the area and will probably be lost trying to find my way around especially in the dark. I will be arriving in the area around 9pm :)

If you are not staying for dinner on Sat night, then no need for Paypal. Just "register" on this site for a head count I guess. I am not sure who will be there on Friday night, but I think Ron Boston will be, so get a PM to him and make sure he knows you are coming so they can unlock the gate. Hopefully I'll get there early enough on Sat AM (planning on leaving livermore between 530 and 6 at the latest) to say hi!

Disco2Guy

I know Steve and myself will be there early afternoon on Friday. You can't miss the gate to Area 5 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=&daddr=36.76282,-121.403818&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=16&sll=36.762009,-121.397552&sspn=0.012325,0.027788&ie=UTF8&ll=36.763659,-121.399527&spn=0.012325,0.027788&t=h&z=16). Since I won't be able to be there for most of the weekend (prior commitment) I'm going to have to pull out Saturday morning. At this months MORG a couple of us were talking about coming in Thursday night and camping. Just want to clarify and make sure this will still be possible.

RE your above post Mike, I'll go ahead and register but I won't be able to be there for dinner Saturday.

Area 5 entrance is on the main road, just keep driving past the entrance to the ranger station and it's about a 1/4 mile down on the right side. Last year there was a big NCLR banner up at the gate also.....

I just cancelled my trip and reservations for my montery bay trip (friends flaked out) so ill be able to hangout with the club for the whole event. So that was a good thing! :)

Either I am a rtard, blind, or both. I cant find where to register and pay the $25. Can someone point me where to go? :)

Also are dogs allowed at the park? I am going to try and rescue a dog from the shelter this weekend so would be nice to being him/her along (up to date with shots and leashed of coursed)

Also up here it's getting into the high 30's at night. I am not familiar with the weather in the area. Will I need to pack my artic gear????? :)

I think, based on my observations, that people are just really busy right now. I can't explain why this year over any other year, but I know I feel more at odds to try and squeeze everything in, so....it may just be the state of the state.

Don't go all the way to that address or you'll pass the Area 5 campground. That is the address for snail mail. Here's a GoogleMap link (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=36.762782,-121.403775&daddr=7800+Cienega+Rd,+Hollister,+CA+95023&hl=en&geocode=%3BFS-TMAIdCQzE-A&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=16&sll=36.765429,-121.403668&sspn=0.012325,0.027788&ie=UTF8&ll=36.750095,-121.382103&spn=0.04931,0.111151&t=h&z=14) where "A" is the camp site you'll want to pull into, and "B" is the actual address listed. There should be a big NCLR banner at the camp entrance too I hope.

This is what google maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=36.762782,-121.403775&daddr=7800+Cienega+Rd,+Hollister,+CA+95023&hl=en&geocode=%3BFS-TMAIdCQzE-A&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=16&sll=36.765429,-121.403668&sspn=0.012325,0.027788&ie=UTF8&ll=36.750095,-121.382103&spn=0.04931,0.111151&t=h&z=14), mapped out for me from home to hollister. That looks like the link I posted, you may want to double check you copied the right one. You really can't miss the entrance to the camp ground. There's a picture of it on the NCLR site somewhere. Here it is. (http://nclrclub.org/index.php?option=com_rsgallery2&Itemid=138&catid=13) It's just past the turn off for the ranger station.

Darn your right. Looks like I did copy the wrong link.

Here is the correct one.

Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=617+Sonoma+St,+Carson+City,+NV+89701&daddr=36.762731,-121.403818&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=16&sll=36.760307,-121.400213&sspn=0.013082,0.019226&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16)

Google maps has me driving from carson city to sac on 50, then take I-5 south.
Driving directions to Cienega Rd
289 mi – about 5 hours 13 mins

Microsoft MapPoint has me drive to reno, take hwy 80 into the bay area then take i-680 south and work my way down.
332.8mi - 5 hours and 5 mins

Drive time is about the same so dont know which would be easier/less traffic.....

Dan, i don't think that is going to be a problem. Just tell them you are down early for the NCLR event in area 5. They may just give you the combo and let you in. Just in case, you could camp thursday night in upper sycamore and then meet us in area 5 when I arrive Friday morning.

Whatever you do, dont pay for park use on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Maybe just Thursday only. The weekend has already been taken care of.

See you then!!

I think it's alright :D Does wine coolers count? I know Griff is a big fan of wine coolers, and any other drink that has a flower or umbrella straw.

I probably stick with beer or 'ritas, I have seen far too many grapes in the last five weeks, but I'm planning on bringing some vino to share as well.

I will call and post here with an update after we get back from the doctor. Have fun in the mud and be safe. Hopefully I can make the dinner tonight and participate in some runs tomorrow.

I have decided to stay home and watch over my daughter. She was prescribed some meds for her congestion. Have fun and take lots of pics. I am sure there will be a terrific write up posted soon.

What a fun weekend. I must say thanks again to Gary, Tony, Ron, David and Brian, for all their hard work. Mexxi's (Enrique) set the bar higher this year at Saturday nights dinner. A special thanks to Park Ranger John for handing us the keys for a very privilaged access to the newly awaited addition to the park located across Cienega Road. Daphne, I hope your listening, our club is very excited at the possibilities and we are eager to help in any way. We came up with a few trail names, Lombard Street came to mind easily with one of the multi switchback trails.

As a side note I missed not having my brother-in-law as co-pilot this year, especially with his photography skills. Obviously not many pics from me, but here are a few...

I have uploaded the six videos from my camera to YouTube, just click on the vid link in my sig to view them. There are a couple of videos of the new area from Friday and Saturday. There are five more on Melinda's camera that are in the .mov format that I'm still working on getting compressed and uploaded as well.

Thanks to the BOD for organizing another great event. It was great seeing some people I hadn't seen in a year, and meeting some new ones. Awesome time, and I'm already looking forward to next year......
Unfortunately I had forgotten my camera, so no pics.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and videos everyone. My wife took our camera on a business trip so no pics from me except a few bad ones off my phone. :o

I had a great time. Thanks for all who were involved in organizing the event. I'll try to stay Sat night and make Sun breakfast next time.

I would like to thank all who participated and volunteered there time to make the Hollister Event a success. A special personal thanks go out to Mike (astateofmike) for helping me out behind the scenes handling numerous tasks that go unnoticed to most.
