Being an engineer, I'm compelled to gather data and from time to time do something with it. I just updated my MPG data since last October and thought I'd share.

-- I bought the DII G4 in January 2007 so the chart starts there.
-- The large peak in cents/gallon in June and July 2008 is due to two things: Commodities peaked then and we did a trip to Alaska and Canada during that time. In Northern Canada we paid close to $6.00US per gallon.
-- In September 2008 I added steel bumpers, skid plates and a winch. There doesn't appear to be much change in MPG due to the added weight.
-- We don't drive the Rover except on long distance trips and when we need to haul something that won't fit in my wife's Miata.

So the mileage seems to have stabilized around 13.5 MPG and the cents/mile is 22 to 25 and continues to rise with the cost of gas and living. I thought the data was interesting. Does anyone else have similar data to compare??

Brian, what are you using to gather your data? Whatever you're using it's better than watching my ScanGaugeII as I'm driving. Also what size tires are you running, stock?

Ha ha! I chuck the gas receipts into the center console and when it gets too full I gather them up and enter them into a spread sheet. I record the mileage on each receipt. I don't get all of them but enough to see a trend.

I'm running 30 inch tires since that's the biggest I can run and still get the truck in the garage with the rack and RTT on. I think stock is 29.
